Wilderness

“A tale of voices in jars from the Wilderness.”

Wilderness

Wilderness was created in 2014 and Balloon & Anvil’s first animated film, about a boy who collects jars containing voices in the wood surrounding his house; a story about the true cost of things. The film combines elements of illustration, stop-motion, horror, fantasy, and ethereal elements of nature exploring the physical nature of our voices.

Created with an incredibly small team on an equally small budget, Wilderness is sparse; stark light emanates throughout to create a sense of vastness within the forest. The tree’s are clustered together, towering over the boy, and the set design utilises a monochromatic colour scheme to lend to the beautiful blue light that pours through from above.

Wilderness is the first of a series of films which will explore this world - a world ruled by natural law and otherworldly creatures.
